Parent Consultation Group
The parent consulation group gives all parents at CBJS the opportunity to share their thoughts with the school. Any parent is welcome to attend.
The members of the consultation group are aware that is not possible for all parents to attend our meetings and have therefore asked me to post on the website a summary of the discussions we have. The idea being, that if any parents want to make comments they can mail them to me. Similarly if any parents have any suggestions or questions they would like discussed at the next meeting, they could also be emailed to me. These summaries will appear below:
Parent Consultation Group
Meeting 27th January 2010
Items discussed
- The responses form the pupil and parents surveys carried out last term. We discussed the responses and the actions the school has put into place to address parent’s issues. These include closer monitoring of incidents of bullying, targeting the use of inappropriate language, informing parents of low level behaviours that disrupt learning and finally giving parents further information through out the year on their child’s targets. We are in the process of looking at the latter idea and plan to have something in place by the next pupil progress meetings in March.
- Pupil newspaper- this suggestion was made to try to raise our pupil’s life skills in a practical context. It is also an opportunity to further develop the roles of our gifted and talented pupils.
- Uniform. The parents at the meeting felt strongly that the school uniform should be adhered to by all, as it a part of choosing to be at Castle Bromwich Junior school. They raised concerns regarding children who regularly have alternative uniform i.e. trainers and black jumpers.
If you have any comments on the issues discussed above or which to pose a question or any ideas for the next meeting please email me on by March 22nd at s10shobden@castle-bromwich-jun.solihull.sch.uk
