Celebrating Green Day In the past

On green day, children came all dressed to impress wearing their one item of green to support Eco day. During this day, children participated in activities with the theme of ‘our school pond.’ All children were pond conservationists and each year group were looking at different areas of the pond in order to improve the ponds sustainability and for the wildlife to be successful.

Here is what each year group got up to.

 Year 3

Year 3 children bought in a variety of household waste and they made animal shelters to go around the pond. Look at some of our constructions.

Year 4

In year 4, children linked their eco-work with their science unit ‘in my backyard’. They researched many different animals and made fact cards.

Year 5

In year 5, children became plant experts and found out which plants would be needed to increase wildlife in the pond. The plants chosen were then placed in the pond.

 Year 6

Year 6 children went pond dipping to find different animals in the pond and looked at how the animals were adapted to live in this environment.
