Eco garden

Since September (2015), the eco rangers decided that they wanted to improve the garden area because it had become overgrown.

These pictures show what it looked like in September 2015.

As a result, Mrs Nolan volunteered to run a university group once a week where a group of children plan, decorate and change the area so that we can grow vegetables and plants in the spring and summer.

In the autumn term, she worked with a group of year 5 children to weed and clean the area. On dad’s afternoon, the children used recycled plastic water bottles to create bird feeds for school and at home.  The garden has been renovated by using recycled material from green day and around the local area.

Here are some year 5’s having fun at work!

In the spring term, year 3 and 4 children have been taking part in the university.  They have used recycled tyres and filled with compost for a planting area, planting some herbs in the flower beds and they are in the process of building a bug hotel.

Look at our new garden so far. What a change!
