At Castle Bromwich Junior School, we believe that music is a vital and integral part of
everyday life. It offers entertainment, recreation, social activities and is a source of
pleasure and solace. It is to this end that we encourage the use of music during
lessons to promote learning.
It has the ability to touch upon emotions and feelings,
which cannot be easily verbalised. It is a subject that allows children of all abilities to be
successful and is an important component of our desire to offer a broad and balanced
curriculum. Children are given opportunities to participate as individuals, in groups, a
whole class, a whole school and with other schools.
All classes are taught music for 50 minutes on a weekly basis. The music room will be
made available to each class for 1 hour a week for this lesson. The majority of class
teachers will teach their own music lessons. However, where appropriate, some
2 classes will be taught by a colleague from the same year group.

We also have a partnership with Solihull Music who deliver the WCIT weekly guitar lessons throughout our year.
