Castle Bromwich Junior School

  • Religious Education

At Castle Bromwich Junior School, Religious Education (R.E.) is taught through an enquiry-based approach using the Solihull Agreed Syllabus, which was updated by the Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education (SACRE) in June 2025. To support the delivery of the curriculum, we also follow planning guidance produced by the National Association of Teachers of Religious Education (NATRE). https://natre.org.uk/

Our R.E. curriculum encourages pupils to explore and ask meaningful questions about the key concepts and beliefs found within a range of religions and worldviews. Through thoughtful enquiry and discussion, children develop an understanding of both religious and non-religious perspectives, while also reflecting on their own beliefs and values.

We believe it is important for pupils to appreciate and respect the diversity of beliefs, practices and cultures that exist within modern society. By developing knowledge, understanding and respect for others, children are better prepared to thrive in an increasingly diverse world.

Parents have the right to withdraw their child from part or all of Religious Education. Requests for withdrawal should be made in writing to the Headteacher. However, we encourage parents to discuss any concerns with the school beforehand so that we can provide further information and support where appropriate.
